The nature of clinical practice in most Asian countries differs from that of other countries. Apart from cattle sheep and goats; the water buffalo and camel are other livestock species encountered in day to day practice of veterinarians. The aim of this book is to provide information relevant to these species. The text is based on the information available in the accessible literature and experience of the contributors and editors. References are listed at the end of each section or chapter. It was not easy to trace the trend or incidence of the surgical diseases of the camel because of lack of reports from field veterinarians. Most reports in the literature originate from teaching institutes where only a small population of camels is able to reach for treatment.
